The best R chondrite find ever!
This is some of the most exciting material we have seen come out of NWA. R chondrites are rare, fresh R's are even rarer, but INDIVIDUAL BABY STONES might be once-in-a-lifetime.

CHILKOOT, Alaska - 246.8 grams
Found 1881, Portage Bay, Alaska - Iron, IIIAB

Alaska's first meteorite and one of only four for the entire state. To our knowledge, this rare locality has only been offered in the past as small micros. Originally from the Dr. James Schwade collection and one of the meteorites photographed in his wonderful collection catalog. Has painted Schwade numbers on back.

This specimen is a robust  nearly-complete slice, with a small section removed by a past custodian. The natural edge is fantastic and shows the deep regmaglypts the meteorite must have had.
